One professional actor takes 5 shots of rum and then attempts to perform a major role in Treasure Island.
Drunk Pirates sends a crew of fearless actors on a chaotic quest for buried treasure, where shifting alliances, sword fights, and suspiciously slurred monologues threaten to derail the entire adventure. Hilarity and mayhem ensue in the heart of downtown Houston as the sober cast fights to keep the story afloat.
Every show is different depending on who is drinking…and what they’re drinking.
Same crew, new voyage. Drunk Pirates comes from The Drunk Shakespeare Society, the company that’s been getting one actor gloriously drunk and turning the classics into chaos for over a decade. This time we’ve traded iambic pentameter for Treasure Island, swords, and the high seas. So if you loved Drunk Shakespeare, you already know the drill: real actors, real rum, and no two nights the same. If you’ve never been, this is a very fun place to start.
Drunk Pirates is now playing at The Emerald Theatre (412 Travis St, Houston, TX 77002), located in the heart of the Theater District, downtown Houston.
The show runs Wednesday through Sunday with performances at various times, a quick walk from Jones Hall for the Performing Arts and the Preston Light Rail Station.
The show runs about 90 minutes, without an intermission. Craft cocktails are available for purchase, and can be delivered directly to your seat!
Yes. One Market Square garage is located directly above the Theatre (costs vary based on local events). Additionally, there are numerous paid lots, and street parking options available nearby.
Looking for things to do in Houston that aren’t another dinner reservation? Trade the Houston heat for the high seas in an air-conditioned speakeasy where the rum is real and the chaos is guaranteed. It’s date-night-friendly, group-friendly, and unlike anything else downtown. It’s a 21+ night out, so bring your ID and your sea legs.
